Juror’s Statement
In the call for entries for The Color of Light exhibit, I stated that the three themes that interest me the most in photography are light, color and moments. Any one of those elements can yield a strong photograph. Any combination of two of them might produce something special and a mixture of all three can lead to something extraordinary.
In selecting the photographs for this exhibit, I was looking for those elements along with some original seeing as well as craftsmanship. Not manipulated photographs that were about effects, but photographs that were effective. Those that make us stop and look. Those that keep us coming back for more. Those that stay with us.
Judging an exhibition is an honor as well as a responsibility and obligation. To all the participants, my thanks for allowing me the opportunity to review your work. For those who came up short, do not be unhappy. This is not a competition — it’s an exhibition. Learn from this one and move forward. And to those who’s work was accepted, my sincerest congratulations! Enjoy the moment and then go out and make some new work.

The Call for Entries:
“Three themes interest me most in photography: light, color and moments.
“Light produces color. Light can be soft or intense; color can provoke or excite. It can also inform. At their best, light and color can come together at a moment in time to create an atmosphere, an emotional response and/or a sense of place. And for me, that is the power and joy of the color of light.” — Arthur Meyerson
For this call for submissions, we seek images that demonstrate the power and joy of the color of light. All capture methods and processes are welcome.
