We offer professional-quality printing at very reasonable cost — eliminating the problems and expense of shipping for distant photographers. Matting and framing are free for the duration of the exhibit if print image area conforms to our standard mat widows. Custom mats are also available at low cost. See our standard mat sizes here.
All prints are made in a color-controlled environment using Epson large-format printers, Epson UltraChrome HDX inks, Eizo monitors, and custom ICC profiles.
We are currently printing on your choice of three papers:
Epson Hot Press Bright
100% cotton rag, archival, smooth, fine art matte paper. Heavy hand feel. 16 mil thick. This is our favorite matte paper.
Hahnemuhle Photo Silk Baryta
310 gsm. 100% alpha-cellulose, durability to ISO 9706. Gives the impression of a traditional silver halide paper. Slightly warm, with a broad color gamut, deep blacks.
Canson Baryta Prestige
A beautiful paper, very similar in gloss and feel to a traditional doubleweight F-surface baryta. Cotton rag and alpha-cellulose fiber substrate, coated with barium sulphate. Hefty 340 gsm in weight (14.6 mil). Bright white and archival. Superb d-max and color gamut.
A print on any of these papers is $35.
Preferred file specifications for printing
We can accept TIFF, PSD, or JPG* files. If possible, please upload a file that is:
—Either TIFF or PSD (Photoshop) file. Layers flattened if applicable.
—Preferred color space: Adobe RGB or sRGB. ProPhoto exceeds the gamut of all printers; we recommend you convert to Adobe RBG or sRBG.
—Bit depth: 16 bit is preferable. 8 bit is OK.
—Resolution: in general, send us the largest file you have. It should be at least the dimensions of the final print area at 300 ppi (pixels per inch).
—Maximum file size for upload is 250MB.
—The image should be adjusted as you want it to appear in the final print.
— * The problem with JPGs is that they are compressed files, and they are 8 bit in color depth.
That said, if a JPG is what you have, we can still make a print that we both will be proud of.
Please be sure to upload a file of sufficient resolution, adjusted as you would like it to appear in the print.
Use the link below to log in and order prints, specify mat window, order a custom mat window, and tell us what we should do with the print after the exhibit, should it not sell.
We do custom printing of portfolios and exhibition prints unrelated to PhotoPlace Gallery. Contact us about your needs.
