Nestled in the heart of Middlebury, Vermont, PhotoPlace Gallery occupies the town’s oldest remaining residence — a beautifully preserved home built in 1799 for the foreman of the nearby Otter Creek water mill. With its hand-hewn beams, wide-plank floors, and wood sourced from virgin forest, the gallery’s space exudes a timeless character that connects the history of craft to the art of photography.
PhotoPlace Gallery is dedicated to celebrating contemporary photography from around the world. Through juried exhibitions, we offer emerging and established photographers the opportunity to present their work in a welcoming, intimate setting that honors both artistic vision and craftsmanship. Each exhibit transforms the historic space with new perspectives, while connecting artists and viewers in conversation around visual storytelling.
We warmly welcome visitors during gallery hours:
Tuesday through Friday, 11 am – 4 pm
