Call for Entries

Still life objects hold a special fascination for photographers, as seen by the nearly 800 photos submitted in response to the call for entries. Under the probing gaze of the photographer, toys can take on unexpected monumentality and soft fruit has sculptural qualities. Familiar objects may metamorphose into unfamiliar shapes or identities.

For this juried exhibition, photo historian Wendy Grossman selected forty photographs for exhibition on the walls of PhotoPlace Gallery in December and on the gallery website. An additional thirty-five images were chosen for PhotoPlace's "On-Line Gallery Annex." Please scroll down to view all selected work.

Juror Wendy Grossman is a writer, educator, and curator with an longstanding interest in objects in photographs.
